Position Summary The House Administrator provides leadership, management, and oversight to hospital staff in the absence of administrative and management staff.
Coordinates the functions of the patient placement process for patient admissions (elective or emergent) and transfers in accordance with clinical standards and guidelines to ensure optimal patient flow.
Supervises Nursing Resource Team staff members related to completion of work, work schedules and work assignments. Assesses unit needs and assigns Nursing Resource Team staff to provide adequate staffing levels and deliver quality patient care.
Minimum Qualifications Work Experience Three years of experience as a staff nurse with demonstrated leadership skills required.
Recent critical care experience strongly preferred.
Education Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor’s degree in nursing or current enrollment in a BSN program required.
If placement into position is prior to July 2015 individuals are considered grandfathered and bachelor’s degree is not required.
Certifications / Licensure Kentucky RN license (OR) RN license in a State recognized by the Kentucky Nurse Licensure Compact Act required effective June 1, 2007.

Ensures smooth functioning of the patient flow process to reduce wait times and avoid unnecessary movement of patients. Manages complex decisions related to patient placement.
Triages / prioritizes admissions from multiple sites; i.e. direct admits, internal transfers, ED admits etc. Assesses patient volume and workload intensity status in patient care areas for appropriate triage and patient placement.
Rounds on inpatient units to find available / soon to be available beds to decompress ER, PACU, Cath Lab, and other procedural areas.
Collaborates with hospital and physician leadership to define, reduce and eliminate barriers within the system that may impeded patient flow and bed assignments.
Matches the clinical needs of patients with staff competencies and unit resources to optimize patient placement decisions and distribution of staff.
Assists team members throughout the hospital with crisis intervention or problem solving and customer satisfaction that may include intermittent clinical help, obtaining equipment, and / or patient transport.
