Job Summary
The Aircraft Operations Manager manages, controls and executes operational activities associated with the aircrew operations of the helicopter squadron supporting flying hours forecasts, aircrew (Pilots and Flight Engineers) training administration and mission support as necessary of a helicopter squadron operation.
Principal Accountabilities
- Determines aircraft configuration and flight crew requirements to support highly sensitive helicopter mission requirements and in support of high ranking government officials.
- Designs programs / processes; compiling, analyzing, and interpreting data to solve business issues; recommending alternative approaches or solutions;
working on problems of broad scope; and implementing activities that support the strategic plan.
- Must be able to make quick decisions in a very dynamic and ever-changing operations environment in support of the unit’s no-fail mission.
- Manages Alert crew requirements to ensure fully qualified flight crews are available at all times.
- Monitors aircrew members status for recurring training, medical, egress and other periodic requirements to ensure fully qualified flight crews are available to meet mission requirements.
- Chairs weekly scheduling meetings to review aircrew status, availability, and forecasts future aircrew requirements.
- Performs other duties, as required.
Knowledge & Skills
- Must be able to obtain / maintain a United States Top-Secret Clearance. Please note : United States Citizenship is required to maintain a United States Top-Secret Clearance.
- Must have demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written. Must be fluent in the English language
- Working knowledge of AF syllabi, training prerequisites, currency requirements for UH-1N helicopter aircrew highly desirable
- Familiarity with Patriot Excalibur (PEX) Scheduling Software highly desirable; training will be provided
- Previous experience using computer technology and database management highly desirable
Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in associated discipline with five years of experience. Two years’ experience in related field can be substituted for each year of a four-year college degree program.
- Must possess at least one year experience performing aircrew scheduling duties; any airframe
- Must understand and apply terminology regarding aircrew qualification, currency and proficiency rules
Physical Requirements / Working Environment
- Must be able to work in a fast paced, every changing, aircraft operational / maintenance environment.
- Must be able to work a flexible shift to accommodate mission requirements.

Ability to travel domestically and internationally
