The Junior Staff Software Engineer role provides an excellent opportunity for a junior engineer to grow their technical skills, contribute to significant projects, and collaborate with experienced professionals in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • US citizenship required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. 4 years of additional relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • 2 years of experience in software development in a professional environment.
  • Certifications in programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C#) are beneficial.
  • Certification or familiarity with Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) is a plus.

Major Responsibilities

  • Code Development : Participate in the development of software applications, writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Code Review and Maintenance : Assist in code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices. Participate in maintaining and updating existing software systems.
  • Testing and Debugging : Conduct thorough testing of software components to identify and fix bugs. Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure software reliability and performance.
  • Learning and Growth : Actively engage in learning and professional development to enhance skills in software development and stay abreast of new technologies and practices.
  • Collaboration and Communication : Work effectively within a team environment, collaborating with other engineers, project managers, and stakeholders.

Communicate clearly and effectively on project status and technical issues.

  • Technical Documentation : Assist in creating and updating technical documentation for software designs, development processes, and user manuals.
  • Problem-Solving : Apply problem-solving skills to address technical challenges and contribute to solution development under the supervision of senior staff.
  • Agile Participation : Participate in Agile development processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, contributing to team agility and project management.
  • Quality Assurance Support : Support quality assurance processes, including writing and maintaining unit tests, to ensure the delivery of high-quality software.
  • Project Contribution : Contribute to project planning and estimation discussions, providing insights from a technical perspective.
  • Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI / CD) : Engage with CI / CD tools and practices to ensure smooth and continuous delivery of software.
  • Research and Analysis : Conduct basic research and analysis on software development tools and methodologies to support continuous improvement in the development process.
