Flex Time Retail Assistant - Seasonal (Temporary)

Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Retail, the Retail Assistant will further the mission of Ben’s Bells by supporting retail operations when and where needed during the holiday season.
This flex time position will most often be responsible for retail sales at offsite events, and also in-store sales at any of our brick-and-mortar locations as needed.
This position will conclude in January 2025.
Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Act as a first point-of-contact representative for Ben’s Bells Project with the ability to share Ben’s Bells story
- Proactively respond to customer service issues and identify when issues need to be escalated
- Help customers select products
- Respond to merchandise inquiries via email and phone
Sales & Reporting
- Process merchandise transactions
- Process cash, check, and credit card payments
- Drives sales through engagement of customers, suggestive selling, and sharing product knowledge
- Run daily reports
- Balance cash register at the conclusion of each shift
- Assist with inventory tagging and management
Additional Responsibilities
- Gather, transport, and set up / tear down all merchandise and display items to and from events
- Maintain store or booth inventory, cleanliness, and visual integrity including merchandise displays
- Coordinate tasks for merchandise volunteers and interns
- Assist Retail Director and Retail Coordinator as needed
Essential Skills and Abilities

- Flexible schedule including weekend availability
- Ability to lift items up to 50 pounds
- Dependable
- Reliable transportation and clean driver's license record for offsite events
- Non-profit experience preferred but not required
- Bilingual skills are helpful but not required
Requirements
- Customer service experience helpful, preferably in a retail environment
- Proficiency in web applications and database systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Prior money-handling experience
- Experience with POS / Inventory Management systems (LightSpeed POS preferred but not required)
- Ability to effectively communicate in person, in writing, and on the phone
- Excellent organizational skills
- In-town travel required, must have reliable personal transportation and a clean driving record
Timeline Position will remain open until filled. This is a temporary seasonal position that will terminate in January 2025.
Please note this position is flex-time, meaning shifts are scheduled on an as-needed basis and will require weekends and evenings.
There is no guaranteed minimum number of hours. This position is based in our Downtown shop location, with the bulk of hours taking place at off-site events.
