Water Resources Engineer - Junior Level

We are actively looking for a Water Resources Engineer to join our Baton Rouge office. As part of the Water Resources Group, the Water Resources Engineer supports the development of surface water hydraulic, hydrologic, and hydrodynamic modeling.

This role will assist in performing engineering calculations to solve problems related to surface water and drainage. They will analyze system flow, flood risk, and mitigation alternatives, and assist in preparation of exhibits, reports, and presentations to illustrate findings and recommendations.

Preparation of plans, specifications, estimates and other documents and liaising with different individuals and agencies, including government agencies, local authorities, and contractors will also be part of the responsibilities for this position.

Duties and responsibilities :

• Performs 1D and 2D riverine hydraulic modeling
• Performs numerical modeling in support of stormwater and drainage improvements projects
• Prepares plans, specifications, and cost estimates, in support of final bid packages
• Participates in design activities and meetings between project team members, subcontractors, and client managers
• Participates in project decisions regarding technical approaches, feasibility, cost, construction approaches, and scheduling performance
• Prepares written and graphic reports and makes presentations
• Under direction prepares various draft documents, including reports and technical memoranda

Qualifications :

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering; required
• 2 to 4 years of experience; required
• EIT certification in progress, preferred
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with team members and project managers
• Working knowledge of software programs and techniques, which should include : HEC-RASHEC-HMSSWMM / XPSWMM / PCSWMMInforworks ICMESRI GISAutoCADDCivil3DMicrosoft Office
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
• Availability and willingness to travel
