What you will be doing

Responsible for the supervision of all aspects of The Hotel functions, in accordance with the hotel’s standards. Coordination of Front Office, Food & Beverage, and Housekeeping activities of hotel or motel and resolves problems arising from guests' complaints, reservation and room assignment activities, and unusual requests and inquiries by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Directs implements and maintains a service and management philosophy which serves as a guide to respective staff. Supervise the performance of room attendants and general cleaning and take appropriate action to correct deficient conditions, behavior, and work practices.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : (include the following. Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Checks AM and PM discrepancy reports.
  • Has complete working knowledge of software system.
  • Can perform all of the Front Desk functions to include Guest Service Aide, PBX Operator, Front Desk Clerk, Reservationists, etc.
  • Assists Front Desk Clerks by checking guests in and out of the hotel.
  • Provides a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules.
  • Ensures proper staffing levels of Front Desk Clerks by assisting Assistant General Manager in preparing weekly schedule and maintaining proper documentation (timecards, disciplinary procedures, reviews, etc.)
  • Assists the General Manager / Director of Sales / Assistant General Manager by handling special requests, group blocking and unusual circumstances.
  • Trains all new Front Desk Clerks.
  • Confers and cooperates while assisting with other departments Food & Beverage and Housekeeping to ensure coordination of activities.
  • Answers inquiries pertaining to hotel policies and services.
  • Patrols public rooms, investigates disturbances, and warns troublemakers.
  • May be required at any time to assume the job duties of the Front Desk Clerk or any other position which is directly supervised by this position.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies / service procedures / standards.
  • Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests however busy and whatever time of day.
  • Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
  • Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Be familiar with all hotel services / features and local attractions / activities to respond to guest inquires accurately.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Inspect guest rooms, guest areas and employee areas and assess compliance with all established standards as they relate to cleanliness, maintenance, safety, and security.
  • Report, as directed, any observed deviations to established standards.
  • Obtains list of vacant rooms which need to be cleaned immediately and list of prospective check outs in order to prepare work assignments.
  • Assigns workers their duties and inspects work for conformance to prescribed standards of cleanliness.
  • Advises manager or desk clerk of rooms ready for occupancy

Education & Experience

Education :

Some college

Experience :

  • Minimum 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
  • 1 year experience as a Supervisor.
  • Food handling certification
  • Provide legible communication and direction.
  • Compute basic arithmetic

Ability to :

  • Enforce hotel standards, policies and procedures.
  • Prioritize and organize work assignments, delegating work.
  • Direct performance of staff and follow-up with training where needed.
  • Motivate staff and maintain a cohesive team.
  • Ascertain training needs and provide such training.
  • Be a clear thinker, analyze and resolve problems exercising good judgment.
  • Input and access information into P.O.S. system.
  • Work without direct supervision.
