We look for individuals who offer a variety of professional and academic experiences who are friendly, self-motivated, and passionate about our mission.
College advisers work alongside counseling staff in underserved public high schools throughout the state of Georgia. They assist students with navigating the college admissions process.
This includes helping each student identify potential colleges, complete college applications, identify
financial aid and scholarship opportunities and complete forms and applications, prepare and register for college entrance examinations, and make informed postsecondary plans.
GCAC college advisers are members of the College Advising Corps. This is an AmeriCorps Service Member position. Relevant / Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position Advisers should have earned a Bachelor’s degree by July 4 and should have graduated from high school between 8 and 1.
Advisers should have a strong desire to serve and they should work well with a wide variety of populations. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and / or Competencies To be successful in the role of college adviser, the following skills are necessary :
