The Roots Shuttle Program transports clients being released from custody to three drop-off points : Dublin / Pleasanton BART, Oakland Coliseum BART, and Eastmont Transit Center from 9 a.

m. to midnight. Shuttles will make two round trips per hour to transport clients to drop-off points.

The Shuttle Bus Driver is responsible for ensuring the safe transport of our passengers. This position requires strict adherence to schedules and transport-related laws and regulations.

The Shuttle Bus Driver must also be able to diagnose and remedy basic mechanical issues that may arise.

Duties and Responsibilities :

• Transport passengers to and from the designate route stops.
• Conduct safety checks on the shuttle bus before every use.
• Arrive at collection points prior to departure times.
• Confirm that all passengers are present, and record no-shows.
• Ensure adherence to passenger limits, both seated and standing.
• Avoid high-traffic and accident-prone routes, where possible.
• Record and report all major accidents and incidents to your supervisor.
• Check that passengers disembark at the correct destinations, and in a timely manner.
• Ensure that the shuttle bus is fueled, well-maintained, and presentable at all times.
• Observe all relevant traffic and safety laws.
• Attend all department and staff meetings as required.

Competencies

• California Driver’s License B with safe driving record.
• Must pass all requirements set forth by applicable transportation and State agencies and be able to provide proper documentation.
• Previous experience driving groups of people.
• Outstanding knowledge of applicable transport and safety codes.
• First Aid training is preferred.
• Working knowledge of pertinent car maintenance and restoration techniques.
• Ability to work Monday through Saturday, with a varied schedule weekly.
