Group Home Supervisor
Position Summary The Group Home Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations of a Supervised Group Living residence for adults.
Provides supervision for staff and residents to ensure that the program operates in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Duties are performed with minimal on-site supervision. Essential Duties / Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Operationalizes, coordinates and implements a supervised group living home; develops schedules, task lists, and work-flow systems;
makes work assignments to staff
Maintains an effective system of communications; monitors and improves the service delivery process programming; oversees the completion of records, reports, and charting;
and identifies, solves, and prevents operational problems
Serves as a member of the treatment team and attends team meetings to assist in the development, implementation and revision of individual treatment plans and ensures that technicians have adequate knowledge about each consumer and their treatment goals and objectives;
carries out case management and activities of daily living services related to consumer’s treatment as specified on the individual treatment plan
Provides for the proper maintenance, repair, safety and security of the residence’s building, furnishings, equipment and grounds;
also, provides for the proper safety, maintenance, and repair of assigned Center-owned vehicles
- Maintains adequate supplies and reserves of necessary food and supplies; ensures proper dietary standards are met (special diets followed, food stored properly, menus followed, etc.)
- Assists in the development of group home budget and carefully monitors the on-going status of expenditures and budget performance.
Controls expenditures by avoiding unnecessary or uneconomical spending
- Provides administrative and clinical on-call residential coverage
- Provides administrative supervision and personnel management; assists with activities relative to employee recruitment, hiring, supervision, productivity expectations, scheduling, evaluation, discipline, and dismissal;
- oversees the orientation and training of new staff and ensures that the technicians at all times are knowledgeable about the job duties;
completes performance appraisals for Mental Health Technicians; and assists in the development and implementation of a comprehensive program for staff development.
Ensures appropriate staffing patterns to meet the needs of the residents
- Maintains clinical and administrative records. Monitors documentation quality and ensures that all consumer records and administrative documents are in compliance with applicable standards and regulations
- Provides face-to-face services and interventions to consumers on a routine basis as well as substitute for unavailable assigned staff;
- interacts with consumers in a therapeutic and responsible manner; interactions with participants must be : individualized, positive, age-appropriate, reciprocal, constructive, non-authoritarian, and non-confrontational;
in addition, ensures that consumers are continually engaged in constructive conversation and positive social interaction
- Attends meetings as appropriate and meets regularly with supervisor to exchange pertinent information and receive supervision
- Facilitates placement and completes enrollments on all admissions; collects fees and rent from residents as needed; maintains a high level of ethical conduct regarding confidentiality
- Develops and submits to the Director of 24-Hour Services recommendations for general improvements
- Assure residential services are in compliance with regulation / guidelines of accrediting / regulatory bodies and participates in continuous quality improvement activities to include consumer satisfaction.
Maintain TJC accreditation as well as any other certification / accreditation that HCI currently holds.
- Maintain statistical records related to consumer demographics and staff activity.
- Supervise medical records management assuring maintenance of the consumer record in compliance with agency policies, Medicaid and other third party payment requirements;
- insure that staff is trained and proficient on record requirements; oversee / facilitate regular audits of consumer assessments, treatment plans and progress notes written by staff;
and monitor that services are provided according to the treatment plan and consistent with trauma-informed care.
- Participate in developing and conducting new staff orientation and monthly in-service training of administrative staff and group home supervisors related to administrative area of expertise
- Other duties, projects and committees as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities
- This position directly supervises Mental Health Technicians and assists the Director of 24-Hour Services in carrying out supervisory responsibilities for a Supervised Group Home in accordance with Hamilton Center’s policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include assisting in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work;
appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Minimum Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology or a human services related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Must have advanced knowledge and skills in the provision of community-based chemical dependence services and / or mental health treatment.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and accreditation regulations regarding addictions services.
- Knowledge of chemical dependency as a biological, social, and cultural phenomena as well as expertise in assessing and treating such conditions.
- Adequate knowledge and skills in the provision of community-based behavioral health care and / or case management.
- Previous paid professional experience in a human service position or residential services preferred
- Experience in supervision and personnel management preferred
- Agreement to use personal transportation in a work capacity
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid driver’s license in accordance with HCI motor vehicle policy
- Maintain current Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification
- Maintain current American Red Cross CPR / 1st Aid certification / AED
