Position Details
DESCRIPTION :
The Oak Park School District provides Special Educational Services across three elementary buildings (k-5),
one middle school (6-8), one high school (9-12) and two alternative education programs. The Special
Education Paraeducators assist classroom teachers with students with Individualized Education Program
IEPs), including diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who require specific behavioral and
developmental support affecting a child’s communication, social and play skills. Every child diagnosed with
ASD is unique and has their own combination of characteristics and needs as outlined in the Individualize
Education Plan (IEP). The paraprofessional provides caring and nurturing support to students in the least
restrictive environment, to achieve their individual goals. The OPSD is committed to a culture of high
expectations and continuous improvement through aligned and meaningful professional development, a
partnership with Oakland ISD services, data teams to drive instructional decisions and best practices for
students with Individualized Education Program (IEPs) and a relentless focus on the whole child. OPSD is
looking for paraeducators who are intrinsically motivated; who have a deep desire to grow professionally; who
