Performs responsible administrative work within Public Safety's Division of Emergency Management (DEM). Executes technical planning and scheduling for community outreach for all-hazard preparedness, organizational preparedness, and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
Serves as the Division's training and exercise coordinator responsible for all program areas including creation of the Integrated Preparedness Plan, exercise program, and evaluation and corrective action program.
Assists with the coordination and management of related Division functions / programs. Reviews and revises Division plans;
works on assigned projects to analyze, prevent or solve operational problems, determine appropriate courses of action or offer pertinent solutions to management.
Work is performed under general supervision and is reviewed by an administrative superior through conferences, reports and evaluation of results achieved.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Bachelor's Degree in Emergency Management, Public / Business Administration or related field; minimum of two (2) years of experience in the administration and planning of emergency operations and procedures.
Equivalencies :
1. Unrelated Bachelor's Degree and three (3) years of related experience
2. Related Associate's Degree and four (4) years of related experience
3. Graduation from high school / equivalent recognized certification and six (6) years of related experience.
Necessary Special Requirements : Completion of required National Incident Management System (NIMS) training courses : IS-100, IS-700, IS-800 and IS-2200 within 6 months of hire.
Must obtain Certifications for NIMS training courses G-191, G-300 and G-2300 within 11 months of hire.
PREFERENCE FOR EXPERIENCE IN : Emergency Management operations and / or projects; coordinating training programs; using WebEOC software (must specify on application) .
Also desirable : Knowledge of National Incident Management System (NIMS) and / or Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) compliance.
