We are in search of a HR Generalist to join our team in the manufacturing industry located in WARREN, Michigan. In this role, you will be tasked with a range of responsibilities including recruitment, payroll administration, team member orientation, timekeeping and attendance management.
This role offers a short-term contract employment opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Conduct recruitment activities to attract and hire qualified candidates
- Handle some administrative payroll duties and assist in resolving payroll issues
- Coordinate team member orientation to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives
- Manage timekeeping and attendance for team members
- Sort and distribute mail within the organization
- Interact with union representatives and address any concerns or issues
- Perform other generalist duties as required, adhering to industry best practices
- Utilize HRIS - Human Resources Info Systems for efficient HR administration
- Apply basic computer skills and proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel, for everyday tasks
- Organize meetings and maintain organized files, demonstrating strong organizational effectiveness.
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Proven experience in a similar HR Generalist role within the manufacturing industry
- Demonstrated expertise in Human Resources (HR) Administration
- Proficiency in using HRIS - Human Resources Information Systems
- Basic computer skills coupled with proficiency in MS Office including MS Excel and understanding of Excel Formulas
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to organize meetings and manage files effectively
- A clear understanding and application of organizational effectiveness strategies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interpret and explain HR policies to employees and managers
- Knowledge of labor legislation and its application in the workplace
- Professional certification in Human Resources (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP) is desirable
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
