CGI is seeking a highly motivated Data Scientist to join our team of data engineers and data scientists who collect, store, process, and analyze huge sets of data.

Your primary focus will be in applying machine learning and data mining techniques, performing statistical analysis, and building high quality analytic systems - deep learning, anomaly detection, natural language processing, recommendation systems, predictive analytics and information retrieval.

You'll mentor teammates, develop algorithms and scripts, apply machine learning, and use the right combination of tools and frameworks to turn that set of disparate data points into recommended and measurable insights.

This position is based in Lafayette LA in hybrid model.

Your future duties and responsibilities

• Selecting features, building and optimizing classifiers using machine learning techniques
• Data mining using state-of-the-art methods - deep learning, learning to rank, anomaly detection.
• Extending existing data with third party and open sources of information when needed
• Enhancing data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems.
• Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis
• Performing ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in a clear manner
• Creating automated anomaly detection systems and constant tracking of its performance
• Creating object recognition systems from images, video and other media feeds

Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role

• Minimum of 7+ years of overall experience in machine learning and data mining techniques.
• Excellent Knowledge of algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, (NLP) natural language processing, etc.
• Excellent understanding of deep learning techniques - neural networks, Boltzmann machines, auto-encoders, etc.
• Experience with common data science toolkits, such as R, Weka, NumPy, or MatLab, etc. excellence in at least one of these is highly preferable.
• Experience with data visualization tools, such as D3.js, R Shiny, GGplot, etc.
• Experience with integration of data from multiple data sources.
• Experience with NoSQL databases, such as HBase, Cassandra, MongoDB.
• Good, applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
• Ability to lead, coordinate, and guide the team of data scientists efficiently.
• Ability to translate highly sophisticated data and analyses to senior leaders.
• Education : Master's Degree (preferred), at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, Systems Engineering, Applied Mathematics / Statistics, Operations Research, or other physical science / engineering fields.

Desired qualifications / non-essential skills :

• Experience with cloud providers - Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure
• Experience with Cloudera / MapR / Hortonworks / Databricks
• Knowledge of data exploration and visualization tools (Tableau, Qlik, D3, etc)
• Experience with Healthcare

CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications.

To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role.

A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $94,500 - 181,800.
