Responsibilities
Act as a liaison between English and non-English speaking and / or hearing guests, staff and patients
by providing interpreter services.
- Listen to, comprehends and translates oral or written communications from English to another language and vice versa.
- Translate basic to intermediate communication.
- Comply with all privacy and confidentiality policies when communicating patient information.
- Develop translated forms and educational materials for non-English speaking and / or hearing populations.
- Assist in the orientation and onboarding of new members of the network language services team.
Requirements
Licensure / Certification / Registration :
- Certified Interpreter credentialed from the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters preferred.
- Certified Interpreter credentialed from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) preferred.
- Translator credentialed from the American Translators Association.
Education :
High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's
degree / Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
Additional Preferences
Skilled in speaking, reading, and writing in both English and Spanish fluently
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of medical terminology and medical procedures.
- Uses medical terminology to accurately interpret medical and health care information and / or instructions from physicians, nurses or other health care staff to Spanish speaking patients and family in consecutive or simultaneous mode.
