Job Description

The Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM) seeks outstanding candidates for the position of Manager, Office of Medical Education.

The position’s primary responsibility will be managing projects and activities connected to the implementation and support of the strategic innovation of the curriculum and preparing for the growth of the medical school.

Reporting to the Senior Director for Educational Affairs and working with guidance from the Educational Leadership team (including Phase Directors, Assistant Dean for Assessment / Evaluation, and Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education), the Manager will work closely with faculty and administrative support staff across the medical education program to ensure the successful implementation of projects, adherence to timelines and budgets, and achievement of educational and administrative deliverables.

The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a background in higher education, and a commitment to advancing the functioning of collaborative teams.

Required Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Education or related fields, such as, but not limited to, Education Leadership, Curriculum, and Instruction, with demonstrated experience in program and curriculum management.

Experience with various teaching pedagogy

Experience working with data and databases, including but not limited to MS Excel, Google Sheets, etc.

Experience using common software packages such as (MS Word, OneNote, Google Docs, etc.) and presentation software (PowerPoint, Canva, etc.) tools

Preferred Qualifications

A Master's degree in Education or related fields, including but not limited to Education Leadership, Curriculum, and Instruction, with demonstrated experience in program and curriculum management.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to nurture and develop long-term partnerships with diverse colleagues;
  • Advanced knowledge of curriculum and learning design;
  • Experience with satisfying the requirements of accrediting bodies;
  • Grants management experience;
  • Expertise in university-non-profit collaborations;
  • Experience in event planning, coordination, and communication;
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies;
