JOB SUMMARY

The Body Shop Estimator position helps ensure the overall efficiency, profitability, and reputation of our auto body operations by providing timely, accurate, and customer-approved estimates for repair work.

This position must document estimates and the necessary repair work according to established industry standards and insurance company regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS (minimum requirements)

Education and / or years’ experience required :

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
• Previous supervisory experience
• Minimum two to three years truck body experience or related field

Preferred / Required Skills and Abilities :

• Body certification or designation preferred
• Basic personal computer skills including Email and Microsoft Office
• Excellent customer service skills
• Working knowledge of the truck industry
• CDL preferred but not required
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
• An aptitude and interest in body repair
• Strong administrative, organizational and computer skills
• Effective time management skills

Supervision of others / decision making aptitude (if applicable) :

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Supervising all body shop department personnel, as well as monitoring their performance in servicing customers under the direction of the Truck Body Manager.
• Assess the present and future needs, trends, problems and profit opportunities of the Body Shop.
• Serve as a liaison between technicians and customers.
• Lead Technicians in any maintenance and repairs as needed.
• Prepares estimates for repair work according to dealership, insurance company, and industry standards
• Oversees delivery of repairs and manages customer expectations.
• Ensures required documentation is complete and in compliance with industry regulations and standards.
• Assigns work to technicians and ensures all work meets quality control standards.
• Maintains excellent customer service focus and documents all customer interactions for each job.
• Encouraging technicians to keep their skills up-to-date through periodic technical training on new systems and components offered by manufacturers.
• Ensure that approved policies and objectives are clearly understood and effectively applied within the department.
• Review and appraise the results of activities within the department and take appropriate action as necessary.
• Some overnight travel may be required as needed. (Lodging, meals and travel expenses are compensated per company guidelines.)
• Possess the authority to hire and fire employees or give suggestions and recommendations throughout the process of hiring, firing, advancement, promotion, or any other change of status of other employees.
• Customarily and regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment to meet the needs of the company, employees, and / or customers.
• Promote safe work habits and ensure that safety rules are followed.
• Coordinate the processing of warranty claims with Warranty Manager / Warranty Admin and administer warranty and policy adjustment in the most fair and honest manner for the customer, dealership and vendor.
• Ensures that work areas are clean, and that equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored.
• Adhere to work schedule and maintain regular attendance.
• Performs Wallwork Inc. wide duties as requested by the designated supervisor.
• Upholds Wallwork Inc. ethical standards and demonstrates the behavioral and service expectations as defined in our policies and procedures.
