Job Description and Duties

Under the close supervision of an Administrator I and technical guidance of a lead, the incumbent is responsible for developing and assisting in the implementation and on-going operation of a systematic strategy for the prevention and identification of fraudulent tax return filing activities and identity theft (IDT).

This includes actively working the complex accounts and being responsible for having an understanding of the Revenue and Taxation Code, administrative regulations, policies and procedures to ensure departmental compliance with tax laws, to maximize saved revenue and provide customer service to taxpayers, tax professionals and employers.

Initiates and responds to telephone inquiries using the automatic call distribution (ACD) system to proactively gain compliance from IDT victims on valid liabilities, acts on incoming correspondence regarding identity theft related and more technical tax issues from taxpayers, representatives and other authorized individuals.

This position is eligible for remote-working within California based on departmental guidelines and operational need. Some in-office presence required.

Working Conditions

This position is eligible for remote-working within California based on departmental guidelines and operational need. FTB has a minimum in-office requirement of two days per week for all positions including those that are eligible for telework.
