We’re currently searching for a Maintenance Technician to join our Recreational Sports team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission.

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE ROLE :
1) You’ll be joining the Recreational Sports team; a department centered on promoting wellbeing, physical activity, sport and fitness by providing excellent recreational facilities and programs.
2) You’ll report to the Maintenance Supervisor. This position is a Regular twelve-month, 100% Staff appointment. This position is considered essential and employee may be required to report to work in the event that the university is closed.
Some evening and weekend work may be required.
3) You’ll work independently to accomplish primary duties of diagnosis, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of complex cardiovascular, weight training, and electronic equipment, golf cart repair, furniture and upholstery, masonry, carpentry, and painting.
4) You'll participate in general and specialized maintenance, repair, and installation of of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and security systems.
5) You'll maintain appropriate working conditions, safety, and appearance of facilities managed by the Department.
6) You’ll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.
7) You’ll be offered a base compensation package between $42,000-$47,000, along with a which includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

Required Qualifications
- Experience maintaining and repairing cardiovascular, weight training, and recreation equipment.
- Experience and a working knowledge of carpentry, painting, and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and understand technical documents, blueprints, and publications in order to apply knowledge, provide accurate installation, diagnosis, and repair.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in welding, design and fabrication. Experience in plumbing , HVAC, and mechanical systems.
- Electrical Journey or Master Certification.
