Responsibilities
Hampton Academy is a State of NJ; Dept. of Education approved private day school for first through twelfth grade students with a wide range of social, emotional, behavioral and academic challenges.
Our strong academic program, which is aligned with New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards, is supported by the intensive therapeutic.
We are looking for a Full-time High School Teacher.
- Modifies and provides instruction to classified pupils in accordance with each pupil's Individualized Education Plan; Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction to meet the needs of each pupil;
- Works to achieve Student Learning Standards and educational goals and objectives by promoting active learning in the classroom using board-adopted curriculum and other appropriate learning activities;
- Sets specific objectives in lesson preparation and weekly lesson plans and carries through presentation to effectively achieve these objectives;
- Devises written and oral assignments and tests that require analytical and critical thinking as well as the reproduction of facts;
- Uses a variety of assessment tools to develop lessons objectives and teaching strategies; Integrates technology into classroom practice to support instruction;
- Works cooperatively with other Academy staff to coordinate instructional activities and to monitor the progress of each pupil and provides support instruction in the regular classroom or resource center as assigned;
- Budgets class time effectively; Maintains records of pupil's educational progress in class record books, Individual Improvement plans and / or Academy approved forms and summarizes these marks for reporting purposes;
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a classroom climate conducive to learning; Updates daily data for Behavior Management Plan;
- Consults with members of each district child study team regarding each pupil's educational program, academic program, and personal growth;
Communicates with parents through conferences, telephone, email, and other means to inform them about the school program and to discuss pupil progress.
- Maintains professional competence and continuous improvement through in-service education and other professional growth activities;
- Fulfills professional development requirements and maintains records per State mandates; Participates in school-level planning, faculty meetings / committees, and other professional learning communities;
- Utilizes effective use of community resource / services to enhance the instructional program; Uphold and enforces school rules, administrative regulations, and board policy;
- Follows procedures and protocol as outlined in the Hampton Academy Staff Handbook; Completes requisites and district paper work in a timely manner and ensures confidentiality;
Performs other tasks as requested by the Director and / or his / her designee.
Qualifications
Job Requirement :
- New Jersey Certification in Content Area and Teacher of the Handicapped and / or Teacher of Students with Disabilities
- Meet requirements for Highly Qualified Teacher under No Child Left Behind Act
- One to three years experience working with special needs children at the middle / high school level (preferably Emotionally Disturbed or Multiple Disabled)
- Criminal history check and proof of authorization to work in this country required prior to employment.
