()

Reporting to the Controls Engineering Manager; the Automation Controls Engineer will be responsible for the planning, designing, HMI PLC and robot programming, testing, start up, and commissioning of automated systems throughout several manufacturing industries from start to finish.

Responsibilities

  • Operate in a team environment to help meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Participate in project reviews completing all necessary project management documents to help ensure projects complete on time and on budget consistent with customers’ expectations
  • Research and stay current with best available technologies related to automation
  • Design and create electrical machine schematics and panel layouts for automated systems with the integration of robotics
  • Specify electrical components for procurement and / or direct modification of products working with vendors to ensure conformance with engineering design and safety
  • Programming of HMI’s, PLC’s, motion controls, and vision systems
  • Plan and develop offline robot programs using 3D simulation software
  • Initialize and install software on robots
  • Setup robot user frames
  • Verify and touch up offline robot path programming, I / O, and logic
  • Testing and debugging of automated systems prior to customer run-off for factory acceptance and commissioning onsite at customers facility for final site acceptance
  • Provide necessary electrical controls training of automated systems to customer personnel
  • Provide necessary robotic program training of automated systems to customer personnel
  • Provide accurate electrical controls and robot documentation of automated systems
  • Support customers automation systems both remotely and onsite if needed
  • Help identify and cultivate new sales opportunities by building relationships with existing, new, and potential customers / vendors
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in automation design and programmingAllen Bradley PLC and HMI controls experienceStrong knowledge of 2D software design tools to assist in the development and design of automation systemsAutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and Rockwell Studio 5000FANUC robot setup and programming experienceMaterial Handling ROBOGUIDEWelding WeldPROPainting PaintProCRX CollaborativeVisionOctopuz 3D robot simulation experience is also a plus!Highly motivated team playerDetail orientedExcellent communication and project management skillsAble to read electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic machine schematicsAble to translate automation conceptual designs into functional equipmentProficient user of Microsoft Office productsAble to think analytically and creatively while keeping safety and cost in mindPossess strong troubleshooting skillsAble to operate on own initiative with minimal supervision, but also contribute as a team member working within the Automation Controls Engineering team and other cross functional teams including Sales, Automation Mechanical Engineering, and shop floor Electro-Mechanical Technicians
