7 : 30am5 : 30pm MF 8 : 00am12 : 00pm on Saturdays

Ability to work weekends and holidays on arotating basis is required.

PositionPurpose

Our practice is excited to add another KennelAssistant to our team! We are a wellestablished practice with thehighest quality equipment and beautiful purposemade building.

We dofun monthly / quarterly potlucks as time allows. Our staff isrequired to have natural hair colors (no green / pink / etc).

Theideal candidate would have experience with animal care and handlingin a kennel boarding or shelter facility.

Reportinginto the Practice Manager the Kennel Attendant provides care toaddress the needs of patients that are visiting the practice forgrooming and / or boarding.

The Kennel Attendant ensures that theboarding area is clean and safe for all patients by cleaning cagesruns and ward areas and washing laundry.

The Kennel Attendant walksfeeds and administers medication to patients (as needed andsupervised by Doctor or Technician and based on confidence andexperience).

EssentialResponsibilities

• Providesgreat care for patients visiting the practice for grooming and / orboarding.
• Ensurespatients are admitted noting the client’s specificinstructions to ensure a quality outcome including contactinformation and pick uptime.
• Accuratelyand legibly records information related to the patient such asfeeding schedules appearance and behavior during practicevisit.
• Observespatient’s appearance and activity for general physicalcondition obvious signs of illness disease anddiscontent.
• Appropriatelyhandles patients and as needed properly restrains hardtocontrolpatients.
• Walkspatients several times a day to provide exercise and time forelimination of bowels andbladder.
• Appliesknowledge of normal food and liquid requirements and as requiredprovides special food andliquids.
• Ensurespatients are clean and fresh smelling and have been checked by aTechnician / Doctor prior to discharge; ensures patient has allpersonal property uponexit.
• Ensurescages and patients are properly numbered and identified and thatpersonal property (toys treats blankets leashes) are stored in theproper areas andidentified.
• Regularlycleans disinfects and maintain kennels cages runs and stalls asoften as is necessary to ensure no cages or kennels are soiled andodors are not apparent.

Performs general cleaning in other areas ofthe hospital to control the spread of disease. Washes andsterilizes water and foodbowls.

• Laundersand dries towels andblankets.
• Walkshospital grounds regularly and cleans any trash and stool material;empties trash throughout the practice andgrounds.
• Insome practices and based on veterinary practice experiences andconfidence :
• Assistswith the administration of medications under the supervision ofDoctors or Technicians; assists with the administration ofmedications postoperative care or preparation of samples forlaboratory examination collect specimens clean instruments fillprescriptions asauthorized.
• Providesbathing and groomingservices.
• Performsother duties asassigned.
