The Events & Business Services Coordinator will perform a variety of business, fiscal, and administrative tasks to support the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC).
This position works independently and is responsible for organizing and directing the extensive range of programs and events sponsored by UNC LCCC, including but not limited to LCCC Scientific Retreat, symposiums, program retreats, grand rounds, faculty recruitments, weekly scientific seminars, and other special projects.
This position is also responsible for managing the event inquiries and requests that come through the LCCC event inquiry form.
This includes working with the Administrative Ops Team, faculty, finance, LCCC leadership, and IT colleagues to anticipate needs, assess and resolve problems, and ensure programs are meeting the Center’s budget procedures.
The Events & Business Services Coordinator will also be responsible for facilitating additional business operations including managing the LCCC events calendar to provide a clear vision of events, develop monthly event reports to the Administrative Operations Manager to summarize event and financial data, complete travel requests and reimbursements, and negotiate with business partners to book venues, hotel rooms, and room blocks for personnel.
This position is also responsible for :
- Serve as the Parking Coordinator for LCCC
- Distribute Service Awards
- Interpret policies and procedures pertaining to the Independent Contractor speaker checklist, payment honorariums, and other administrative business transactions
- Serve as point of contact for LCCC orientation session
- Organize milestones celebrations for LCCC employees
- Serve as a backup Admin to Employee Listserv
- Collaborate with other units to support and assist with employee events (including Clinical Research Day, LCCC Ice Cream Social, and the LCCC Holiday Party)
- Organize headshots for new staff
- Organize and develop itineraries and agendas for retreats Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related discipline;
or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Event planning experience. Thorough knowledge of accounting and budget procedures Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Experience working within a University setting.
