Job Summary
This job functions as a member of the therapeutic psychiatric team. Provides individual group counseling, utilizing an advanced level of knowledge regarding treatment philosophies.
Demonstrates expertise with group dynamics, development and implementation of patient specific therapeutic interventions and appropriate documentation of patient response.
Accountabilities
- Serves as a milieu manager, assisting to maintain a therapeutic milieu for the unit.
- Coordinates unit groups and provides individual and group therapy activities.
- Observes, reports and documents pertinent clinical information.
- Participates and assists in preparing for multi-disciplinary treatment team.
- Participates in performance improvement activities, unit team meetings and various unit activities.
- Utilizes proper behavioral management interventions, participates in psychiatric and medical emergencies.
- Provides appropriate levels of supervision / observation to patients.
- Provides direct patient care, including assisting patients with activities of daily living and personal care, weekly weights, vital signs, escorting patients to activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory / Management Responsibility
This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
- At least 1 year inpatient / outpatient (psychiatric) experience.
Required Certifications / Registrations / Licenses
Must have and maintain Heartsaver certification. CPI training must be completed within 2 months of hire. The training will be provided by Prisma Health.
Valid driver's license, an acceptable three-year motor vehicle record as defined by the Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) Chart, and a certificate of auto insurance.

Group and individual counseling skills, psychiatric problem solving abilities; must be able to evaluate patient's clinical condition;
must be able to get along with others; must be able to treat patients of all ages.
Grandfather Clause
Incumbents in this role prior to May 1, 2020 are excluded from the bachelor's degree requirement.
