As an experienced Data Management Specialist, you know how to uncover trends and tell meaningful stories through data continuous process improvement with the goal of making things more efficient and providing a better experience for our advisors / client and demonstrating a mindset of owning and seeing issues through to completion / resolution.
The Data Management Specialist supports a variety of solutions pertaining to data quality. Solutions are tied to 3rd Party web-based applications that support financial advisors and clients.
The Specialist will proactively work with both vendors and internal teams to create optimal solutions. A large part of the role also involves supporting strategic acquisitions and firmwide projects.
There will be a lot of interaction with people, but on any given day half of it could be researching issues within the data.
This role, part of Cetera’s Digital Solutions department, involves managing various solutions based on their complexity and size.
The Specialist will report directly to the Manager of Data Experience and follow a hybrid work schedule, meeting with the team at our El Segundo, CA office once a month.
What you will do :
- Collaborate with sponsors, vendors, and internal teams to deliver effective solutions to improve data quality.
- Support strategic acquisitions and firmwide projects as needed.
- Evaluate existing solutions and identify opportunities to create an improved advisor experience.
- Focus on streamlining processes and / or create efficiencies.
- Ensure improvement processes are applied to optimize data quality within proprietary systems.
- Proactively reconcile data to ensure data is accurate and is feeding into all vendor and proprietary systems.
- Analyze data using SQL and / or Excel with ability to derive meaningful insights.
- Work with vendors to build new data feeds or improve existing ones to include certain products or data elements.
- Provide Manager with progress on data management projects.
- Manage vendor billing processes by ensuring debit files are provided accurately to firm commissions systems.
- Manage any discrepancies with vendors pertaining to advisor subscriptions.
What you need to have :
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Computer Science, or Information Systems.
- 3+ years of experience working with vendors or product sponsors.
- 2+ years of experience working on data projects.
- Knowledge of SQL and / or Advanced Excel, working with large data sets.
- Experience in the finance industry supporting end users on data issues on financial web-based applications.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to articulate across multiple departments and get to the point quickly.
- Strong initiative, proactive, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and tasks in an organized and timely manner.
- Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with ability to innovate.
- Strong technical skills with ability to learn new tools and platforms.
- Ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision.
Nice to have :
- Prior experience using JIRA.
- Prior Broker-Dealer experience.
Compensation :
The salary range for this role is $65,000.00- $80,000.00, plus competitive performance-based bonus. Compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and specific office location.
Compensation ranges may differ in differing locations due to cost of labor considerations
