Mechanical/ Research & Development Engineer

Mechanical R&D Engineer - Pittsburgh, PA Salary Range : $65,000 - $80,000 + Quarterly Bonus + 401K

We are seeking a Mechanical / Research & Development Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will work under the direction of the Research & Development Engineer to perform general laboratory testing duties.

Your responsibilities will include the development of new products, quality testing of new designs and products, and improvement of current designs and products.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :

• Qualified candidates should have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or an equivalent relevant discipline, preferably in Mechanical or Material Science Engineering.
• 1-2 years of relevant experience is a plus.
• Experience with AutoCAD, FEA, 3D Modeling, and Drafting is preferred.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong composition, documentation, and presentation skills with self-directed development goals.
• Mechanical and mathematical aptitude with the ability to apply analytical solutions to real-world situations.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and application of mining and ground control products.
• Understanding of mechanical engineering and product design / application.
• Strong technical and functional acumen and ability to gather information to make confident technical decisions.
• Effective written and oral communication skills with representative leadership ability.
• Capability of working on multiple projects and staying highly organized.
• Works well in groups; Demonstrates team player mentality.
• Perseverance and ability to learn on the fly in a fast-paced environment.
• Dependability and ability to work a flexible schedule that may include travel (approximately 25%) as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Perform engineering assignments within specified timeframes under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Apply engineering methods for the execution of calculations in an orderly and understandable manner.
• Assist with field and analytical evaluations of designs.
• Create and revise engineering and manufacturing drawings, specifications, and material requirements.
• Assist in the generation of technical communications, including formal design reports, technical letters, and customer deliverables with guidance.
• Participate in vendor and customer meetings and presentations.
• Conduct field trips and observe products in operation in mines or tunnels to review application parameters, recognize problems, and recommend appropriate corrective actions if necessary.
• Review and resolve deviation requests for drawing revisions to facilitate the manufacturing process.
• Determine and schedule new engineering to support customer orders.
• Approve current engineering records before release to manufacturing for production.
• Assist in quality audits and testing of products as assigned.
• Edit and approve content for technical publications.
• Learn and apply engineering software tools and systems.
