Color Designer

Our client is seeking a talented Color Designer to join their team. This role is pivotal in shaping the visual identity of our products through innovative and consumer-centric color design solutions.

This role is a hybrid model in Beaverton, Oregon.

Color Designer Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute color designs that enhance product, communications, or collateral materials.
  • Collaborate closely with design, product marketing, development, and material consultants to develop effective color solutions aligned with market demands.
  • Review all samples to ensure color achievability on various materials, partnering with design, marketing, and development for final approval.
  • Maintain and communicate color calendar, timelines, and deadlines for timely completion of each product.
  • Develop line art and coordinate materials for products, ensuring alignment with seasonal strategies.
  • Create innovative, retail-focused color solutions based on thorough research of design, market, and lifestyle trends.
  • Propose seasonal color strategies in collaboration with Color Design Managers and / or senior Color Designers.
  • Lead color merchandising strategies and stories in partnership with Category and Design Directors.
  • Utilize in-depth understanding of consumer and brand-positioning needs to improve product performance and appearance.
  • Present category-specific color direction and merchandising strategies to internal audiences effectively.
  • Participate in bi-annual color committee meetings to influence and integrate color needs into product development.

Color Designer Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of directly relevant work experience in a creative field utilizing color design.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating creative and effective use of color.
  • Ability to consider trends, consumer evolution, distribution, and strategic merchandising plans in color design.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with design and business partners.
  • Experience in reviewing samples and problem-solving color achievability on material issues.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with a clear ability to articulate color strategies.
  • Highly organized and flexible, capable of managing multiple seasons and shifting priorities.

Preferred :

  • Experience in designing and executing seasonal palettes for apparel collections.
  • Proficiency in trend forecasting, consumer, and competitor market research.
  • Previous experience mentoring junior designers.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to evolving business needs.

Compensation : $43-$53 / hr. (DOE)
