Our College Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia’s capital city and five nearby counties.
Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance.

Job Description Reynolds seeks a visionary Dean to lead in the design and development of a new Division of Learning Resource Centers.
A cornerstone of the Reynolds’ student success efforts, the Division of Learning Resource Centers will combine and redefine the delivery of the college’s academic resource centers, including the college libraries, tutoring services, the Writing Studio and Math Central+.
Using data analytics, the Dean will advance student learning outcomes by deploying evidence-based strategies tailored to the specific needs of community college students.
Reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs, the Dean will be an integral figure of the Academic Leadership Team.
Minimum Qualifications :
Visionary Leadership
- Demonstrated record of designing, initiating, and implementing a suite of mission-driven learning support programs.
- Ability to communicate a clear and compelling strategic vision to multiple audiences.
- Capacity to build innovative collaborations with the faculty and divisions across the college in pursuit of student learning and success.
- Evidence of progressive and collaborative leadership and at least three years supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire and engage direct reports to implement a new vision where transformational changes are needed.
- Ability to complete complex projects and make forward progress on strategic initiatives.
- Knowledge of principles and processes involved in business and organizational planning, coordination, and execution. This includes strategic planning, resource allocation, personnel management, leadership techniques, and budgetary development.
Student Focus
- Track record of modeling and leading a student-success agenda with an equity lens / focus to eliminate barriers for under-resourced students.
- Comprehensive understanding of the contemporary learning needs of community college students and ability to translate to innovative digital and physical resources and support services.
- Ability to design and implement student supports across multiple learning modalities.
Data and Technology Centered
Experience leveraging data analytics to identify opportunities, develop evidence-based strategies, and measure impact.
Continuously refine programs and processes to ensure adaptation to evolving student needs and landscapes.
Proven ability to use technology to enhance student services and personalized learning, exploring the potential of virtual support, AI, and predictive analytics.
Knowledge and Skills
- Master’s degree or higher in a related field required.
- Excellent interpersonal and cultural competency skills, and demonstrated ability to communicate and work collaboratively and effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
- Passionate and energetic approach in pursuing the core value of student success.
- Strong contributor to achieving the mission of the enterprise.
- Broad knowledge of all aspects of contemporary library operations including library practices, learning spaces, instructional technologies, library automation systems, online resources, trends and emerging technologies.
- Excellent technical, analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks effectively under pressure with excellent attention to detail and deadlines.
- Effective fiscal planning and budgeting skills, and demonstrated ability to manage and steward human and fiscal resources.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Community college experience preferred.
