POSITION SUMMARY
The Production Machinist is responsible for making parts ready for welding and fabrication. Using a Manual Lathe, you are machining fittings with chamfers or bevels.
Note : Must be proficient at running a Manual Lathe.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and prepare the operation
- Select best method of machining to achieve desired tolerance, speed and finish
- Perform calculation to form the work piece, calculate speed and feed
- Monitor the feed rate and speed of the machine
- Select tools and materials for the job, plan the sequence of cutting and finishing operations, and mark the work piece to show where cuts should be made
- Perform the necessary machining operations
- Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to understand and follow English instructions
- Ability to read and understand all measuring devices
- Strong math skills required
- Ability to operate a lift truck

PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTSÂ
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; push / pull up to 70 pounds; transfer 50 - 100 pounds with the help of another person.
- Must be able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Good vision required
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to use hand and power tools.
