Civil Principal Designer

Operating under detailed instructions and review the purpose of this position is to provide the essential technical knowledge and perform the work listed.

This role has the responsibility to promote Fluor's competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence.

The purpose of this position is to work on design and perform 3D layout of complex scope and may serve as Design Area Lead.

Responsibilities

• Conduct review of model using 3D review platform and create 3D models of moderate to advanced complexity.
• Apply project drawing standards to design drawings and 3D layout.
• Prepare 2D Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings of advanced complexity.
• Review drawings and vendor equipment documentation of advanced complexity within the discipline and from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements, and actively seek discrepancy resolution.
• Perform bulk material take-off analysis and tabulations.
• Adhere to industry codes and standards as well as department practices and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

Basic Job Requirements

Accredited two (2) year degree or global equivalent in technical field of study, or; A combination of education and directly related experience equal to fifteen (15) years*;

some locations may have additional or different qualifications in order to comply with local requirements.

• Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors.
• Job related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job.
• Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state / province, and federal / national statutes and guidelines.
• Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner.
• Knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materials.
• Practical field experience.
• Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs.

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Intermediate knowledge of :
• Site design, layout and modeling.
• Grading and drainage design and modeling.
• Erosion and sediment control design and modeling.
• Underground utilities design and modeling.
• Intermediate knowledge of 2D design software.
• Intermediate knowledge and proficiency using Autodesk Civil 3D software.
• EPC project experience working on industrial projects.
• Remote work requests will be evaluated based on positions, job function, and project requirements. However, if remote work is approved, periodic travel to home office and / or project site will be required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Accredited two (2) year degree or global equivalent in technical field of study.
• Knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materials.
• Intermediate knowledge of the following software tools :
• Autodesk Civil 3D.
• Autodesk Navisworks.
• Autodesk Vehicle Tracking.
• Bentley OpenRoads.
• Bentley MicroStation.
• Autodesk AutoCAD.
• Practical field experience.
• Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs.
• EPC project experience working on projects for the US Department of Energy or other US Federal Government agency.
• EPC project experience working on nuclear facility projects under a nuclear quality assurance program.
