Position Purpose :
The Non-Revenue field technician will provide field support for the NRW department. The primary goal of the NRW field technician is to identify and address leaks promptly to minimize customer impact and ultimately, reduce NRW.
Primary Duties / Responsibilities :
- Conduct leak surveys utilizing a variety of acoustical equipment, ground microphones, dataloggers, correlators, etc.
- Collect, record, analyze and interpret field data to pinpoint leaks.
- Assist T&D and Production personnel of each operation to accomplish NRW tasks.
- Assist in other miscellaneous NRW related field activities site inspections, field investigations, meter troubleshooting, etc.
- Meet with customers and public officials to discuss NRW topics.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Work Environment :
- Work will mostly be in the field with occasional office work safety training, meeting, etc.
- Conduct and assist in nighttime leak surveys as needed.
Qualifications
Education / Experience / Background :
- High School Diploma / GED required.
- 3 to 5 years in water utility distribution.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :
- Ability to hear well in order to locate leaks.
- Ability to clearly and effectively communicate in both written and oral format.
- Ability to read maps.
- Ability to operate smart phones, laptops and tablets.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Adhere to all Company safety procedures and in particular traffic safety as it relates to working in traffic.
- Must be able to travel to all PA operations. Overnight stays may be required.
Required Certification / Licenses / Training :
- Valid Driver's License.
- Class E Water Operations License.
Physical Requirements :
- The candidate must be able to walk, bend, squat and regularly lift 30-50 pounds and may occasionally lift and / or move up to 75 pounds.
- Candidate will be on-call at times to respond to emergency situations (24-7)
