Duties and Responsibilities (Indicates an Essential Function)
- Follows basic inventory practices such as FIFO, lot / serial control and NCM materials
- Successfully learns and performs material issuing procedures and documentation requirements
- Accurately store, count, weigh and inspect for damage on all materials required by production
- Handles hazardous waste appropriately
- Safely operates heavy equipment, such as fork lifts and scissor lifts, to maneuver, ship and receive materials, as well as legally operate a motor vehicle to complete local errands (if licensed)
- Follows verbal and written instruction and is accountable for his / her actions
- Follows safety guidelines (PPE, etc.) and demonstrates safe work practices
- Maintains timely and accurate documentation pertaining to material handling
- Promotes job and process improvement as it relates to the department (through S as well as other improvement initiatives)
- Responds to multiple assignments in a timely and efficient manner
- Overtime may be required, based on business need; regular attendance required
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency required
- Two or more years of related experience and / or training preferred
- Experience with safely operating a forklift and scissor lift within manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team and possess a positive communication style
- Maintaining a valid driver’s license (class D; operator) strongly preferred
- Basic computer skills, including internet, MS Office (especially Excel and Outlook), ERP software, document control software strongly preferred;
willingness to learn required
- Math skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimal.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions
- Possess the ability to react to changes of responsibility throughout the day
- Must have the flexibility to respond to multiple assignments
- Ability to work any shift, including nights and weekends
- Ability to speak, read and write English fluently
