Duties and Responsibilities (Indicates an Essential Function)

  • Follows basic inventory practices such as FIFO, lot / serial control and NCM materials
  • Successfully learns and performs material issuing procedures and documentation requirements
  • Accurately store, count, weigh and inspect for damage on all materials required by production
  • Handles hazardous waste appropriately
  • Safely operates heavy equipment, such as fork lifts and scissor lifts, to maneuver, ship and receive materials, as well as legally operate a motor vehicle to complete local errands (if licensed)
  • Follows verbal and written instruction and is accountable for his / her actions
  • Follows safety guidelines (PPE, etc.) and demonstrates safe work practices
  • Maintains timely and accurate documentation pertaining to material handling
  • Promotes job and process improvement as it relates to the department (through S as well as other improvement initiatives)
  • Responds to multiple assignments in a timely and efficient manner
  • Overtime may be required, based on business need; regular attendance required

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency required
  • Two or more years of related experience and / or training preferred
  • Experience with safely operating a forklift and scissor lift within manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team and possess a positive communication style
  • Maintaining a valid driver’s license (class D; operator) strongly preferred
  • Basic computer skills, including internet, MS Office (especially Excel and Outlook), ERP software, document control software strongly preferred;

  • Math skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimal.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions
  • Possess the ability to react to changes of responsibility throughout the day
  • Must have the flexibility to respond to multiple assignments
  • Ability to work any shift, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to speak, read and write English fluently
