Location : Rochester, NY (Three City Center)

Salary Range : $111,000 to $139,431 (dependent on experience)

Cross Company Responsibility : Yes

Job Summary :

Responsible leader in charge of managing and overseeing the development and design of Lines and substations within BES / CLCPA Programs for major capital projects in Avangrid’s operating territory in NY.

Position reports to the Substation Director, but will work day-to-day in cross-functional project teams and support project needs as dictated by the business unit managers and Director.

Major Roles and Responsibilities :

  • Oversee capital projects engineering performance including all phases : scoping, budgeting, conceptual engineering, contract management, design, construction, and closeout.
  • Perform standard and complex engineering analyses, designs, and calculations using standard methodology and principles, and develop alternate methods or design concepts to resolve problems.
  • Lead and create new conceptual designs and oversee the work of external detailed designers ensuring consistency among all operating companies.
  • Act as a liaison with stakeholders (Operations, Process and Technology), representing the Substations group.
  • Solve unique and complex engineering problems, analyzing possible solutions using standard procedures related to Substations and power engineering.
  • Ensure all engineering designs meet applicable company, local, state, and national codes and standards.
  • Support technical requests from current and proposed customers.
  • Utilize knowledge to influence and guide unit engineers.
  • Mentor, develop, and support the team in technical skills.

  • Technical and operational experience in a relevant engineering role within a utility environment.
  • Knowledge of construction and maintenance standards, and electrical, civil, and P&C engineering standards up to 345kV.

Experience / Training :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required
  • Master’s Degree Preferred
  • 10+ years minimum relevant experience
  • Professional Engineering License Preferred
