Responsibilities*
- Planning, organizing, scheduling and the supervision of construction and renovation projects in hospital, health care, laboratory, classroom, office and research facilities.
- Assign and supervise trades work involving the application of Carpentry, Painting, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Fire Alarm, Fire Suppression, Masonry, Plaster and other Skilled Trades.
- Estimate job requirements including Trade(s), quantity of time, equipment and supplies required.
- Meet with customers to create scope of work that meets user requirements and budget.
- Manage the work of contractors hired to support construction projects.
- Review daily time records, approve daily time records and correct errors.
- Procure material for renovation projects and oversee staging both on-site and off-site.
- Planning and directing trades work; appraising their productivity and efficiency, helping resolve problems, handling their complaints and grievances and disciplining them when necessary.
- Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to subordinate group.
- Work with design teams to review drawings and specifications for feasibility and cost.
Required Qualifications*
- High School degree or 5 years of experience in construction.
- Proficiency in communicating effectively through email.
- Ability to use a computer to manage work orders.
- Experience and ability to directly supervise skilled trade workers.
- Proven ability to provide professional customer service.
- Ability to work as a member of a team and leader.
- Ability to maintain organized records (printed and electronic).
- Ability to relate to individuals from diverse, ethnic, cultural, and economic backgrounds.
Desired Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering or Architecture.
- Knowledge and experience with work order management software, MS office products, and Scheduling software.
- Experience in managing University construction and renovation projects.
- Experience in managing hospital and health care construction and renovation projects.
