About Siree

Sirene, a new seafood and wine -focused restaurant by Chef Gavin Schmidt and Paul Einbund creators of San Francisco’s acclaimed The Morris will soon open in Oakland.

Reflecting the charm and expertise of The Morris, Sirene aims to offer an comfortable yet elevated dining experience, combining high-quality, locally-sourced ingredients with a robust selection of wines curated to enhance our guests meal.

Responsibilities

The General Manager (GM) at Sirene will lead daily operations, ensuring exceptional customer experiences, seamless service, and a positive, efficient workplace.

Key responsibilities include :

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee all aspects of front-of-house operations, including guest satisfaction, workflow efficiency, and quality control.
  • Coordinate with Chef Gavin and the back-of-house team to maintain consistency in food quality and presentation.

Manage inventory, ordering, and vendor relationships, especially regarding wine and beverage, to align with menu needs and budget targets.

Team Management

  • Recruit, train, and develop FOH staff, creating a collaborative, educational, and inclusive environment.
  • Foster an understanding of Siree’s culinary philosophy and beverage offerings, ensuring staff is well-versed in menu items and available beverages.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and maintain employee records, ensuring compliance with California labor laws.

Financial Oversight

  • Develop and manage operational budgets, focusing on cost control, labor expenses, and profitability.
  • Track KPIs and prepare reports on financial performance and sales trends, providing insights and adjustments as needed.
  • Oversee payroll, staff scheduling, and tip allocations per CA regulations.

Customer Experience

Lead by example in providing outstanding guest interactions, addressing issues proactively and ensuring service recovery when necessary.

Uphold Sirene’s brand standards by creating a warm, attentive, and refined dining environment that reflects our dining principles.

Compliance and Safety

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, and labor regulations (including OSHA standards and CA labor laws).
  • Maintain proper licensing for alcohol service and ensure all staff is trained per CA requirements.

Qualifications

  • Experience : Minimum of 5 years in restaurant management, with at least 3 years in a similar upscale dining environment.
  • Knowledge : Strong background in wine and food, particularly in seafood-focused cuisine, and familiarity with California labor and health standards.
  • Skills : Exceptional leadership, problem-solving, and communication abilities. Must demonstrate a strong understanding of restaurant financials.
  • Certifications : Food Handler’s Certificate, ServSafe Alcohol Certification preferred.
