Senior Business Analyst

Position : Senior Business Analyst

As a senior business analyst on the team, the position is a key contributor in identifying system actors, documenting processes, use cases, data flows, and illustrating them to portray current state system conditions as assigned by the Product Manager.

The position will also conceptualize to-be systems state and break the work down into requirements that meet INVEST criteria.

The analyst will create, groom, and support a defined product backlog maintained in Azure Dev Ops. Responsibilities include :

• Interview and document conversations with relevant stakeholders and users with the purpose of identifying functional requirements.
• Contribute ongoingly to tactical software development by supplying requirements, participating in agile ceremonies, and verifying acceptance for work items that meet acceptance criteria.
• Update epics, features, user stories, tasks, and acceptance criteria when required.
• Collaborate with software engineers to refine requirements, answer questions, and incorporate product management feedback in the work.
• Collaborate on testing and verification of code while it is built, refactored, and remediated.
• Participate in agile ceremonies, taking notes about decisions and requirements to translate them into content backlog items.

DELIVERABLES

The deliverables of this work are agile requirements that can be interpreted by a development team to produce working, quality software.

The work will be features and stories that objectively :

• Whenever possible use the INVEST framework to ensure independent software value delivery. The requirements should be Independent, Negotiable, Valuable, Estimable, Small, and Testable.
• Whenever possible incorporate other best practices in requirements gathering and writing :

O Stakeholder inclusion and requirements traceability for the backlog.

o Collaboration with key actors in requirements development.

o Operating within given frameworks, such as intentional architecture, agile practices, and defined technical stack.

o Include clear, testable acceptance criteria.

o Incorporates team definition of done.

o Creates executable requirements, preferred over static documentation.

o Captures known dependencies such as sequence and constraints for implementation.

o Verified outcomes through manual verification or in collaboration with software developers and testers.

Experience :

Candidates will have 12+ years experience performing as a Business Analyst working with end users and business stakeholders in the following :

Gathering and documenting business requirements in As-Is and To-Be states.

Performing GAP Analysis

Translation business requirements to technical teams.

Performing Business Process Reengineering

Holds a Bachelor Degree in related field.

Preferred to be CBAP certified or PMI-PBA

Highly preferred public sector project experience

Remote work allowed. Candidate will provide their own equipment to complete the work (computer, printer, chair, desk, phone, software tools).
