PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carries out delegated tasks under the direction of the RN
- Prepares stretchers and OR beds.
- Documents in the medical record, as necessary including but not limited to scanning documents and opening new medical records.
- Assists in maintaining adequate inventory of all areas of the ASC
- Maintains and organizes linen inventory, transfers soiled linen to the designated area.
- Assists in routine unit operations as directed / needed to assure smooth communication and functioning of the unit.
- Follows universal precautions.
- Completes incident reports per policy.
- Cross trained to other specialties performed within the department including but not limited to patient check in, cleaning, and sterilizing instruments, preparation for the following days surgeries.
- Maintains unit training requirements and attends staff meetings
- Provides point of care testing and maintains quality control testing.
- Contributes to the delivery of safe, efficient and quality patient care as delegated by the Registered Nurse
- Assists with room turnover, cleaning, patient positioning, obtaining supplies / equipment and patient transportation for discharge.
- Assembles and maintains supplies for anesthesia.
- Applies principles of infection control and safety, including proper handling, cleaning, and or disposal of equipment / supplies used in all cases.
- Advocates the mission, philosophy, and core values of InterMed’s mission statement.
- Maintains collaborative, team relationships with peers and colleagues to effectively contribute to the working groups achievement of goals, and to help foster a positive work environment.
- Adheres to all InterMed and ASC policies and procedures.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant certification
- Current BLS required.
- At least one year of related experience is required; previous experience in Ambulatory Surgery Center setting preferred.
- Preferred Certification in Sterile Processing
- Ability to differentiate between clean, contaminated, and sterile areas.
- Proficient with Windows based computer applications
- Accurate transcribing and data entry skills
- Excellent typing and accurate documentation of patient encounter
- Excellent communication skills and strong Customer Service orientation
- Ability and willingness to provide excellent customer service to patients, InterMed colleagues and vendors.
- Ability to work independently and accurately.
- Ability to work well in a busy environment.
- Flexibility and willingness to work as a team member.
Schedule :
Approved : Two 9-hr days per week (18 hours total)
