Payroll Manager
As the Payroll Manager, you’ll lead the Payroll Team responsible for both domestic and global payroll functions. Your key responsibilities include :
Accurate and Timely Payroll Processing :
Ensure precise and timely payroll processing for team members, including tax filings and payments to government authorities.
Calculate and submit garnishments (such as child support or levies) and other deductions accurately.Handle expat payrolls and foreign / domestic relocation expenses, including associated gross-up calculations.
Team Development and Performance Management :
Develop team members through 1 : 1 sessions, cross-training, and project work.Prioritize and direct team workloads.Recruit and retain top payroll talent while evaluating and monitoring performance.
Risk Mitigation and Compliance :
Implement internal controls, oversee systems, and ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations related to payroll.
Strategic Initiatives and System Oversight :
Lead cross-functional projects, including support for mergers and acquisitions.Direct system testing for upgrades and implementations.
Subject Matter Expertise and Financial Accuracy :
Participate in networking groups as a payroll subject matter expert.Oversee accruals, journal entries, reconciliations, and necessary adjustments during the month-end close process to ensure accurate financial statements.
Administer Johnsonville’s monthly Great Performance Share bonus program.
Vendor Management and Audits :
Manage third-party vendor relationships, contracts, and pricing.Represent the functional area in various audits (year-end financial, workers’ compensation, payroll, tax, and corporate social responsibility).
Budget Management :
Develop and manage the departmental budget.
Education :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, or a minimum of 10 years of payroll experience.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) Certification (highly desired), actively pursuing, or ready to pursue.
Experience :
- Minimum of 5 years of experience leading and developing a payroll team.
- Strong knowledge of multi-state and local tax regulations.
- Experience with global payrolls (Southeast Asia experience is a plus).
