Position Summary
The Assisted Living Director ensures delivery of quality assisted living services focused on maximizing residents' individual capabilities, implements and monitors effective Assisted Living systems;
ensures clinical / health services are in compliance with community standards and State regulations, serves as a clinical resource for Community staff, in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.
Education, Experience, and Licensure Requirements
- Active state assisted living administrator's license or certification and maintain active license in good standing throughout employment
- Minimum of bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent experience
- 5 years' experience in senior services
- 2 years' supervisory experience (senior services preferred)
- Current CPR certification, or obtain certification within 90 days of hire, and remain current during employment
- Current First Aid certification (if required by state). If required, First Aide certification must remain current during employment
Primary Job Responsibilities
Administrative, Systems and Planning
- Plans, develops, organizes, implements and evaluates resident care goals (service planning, clinical needs, follow-up resolution) in collaboration with Executive Director and Resident Care Director / Licensed Nurse
- Manages labor and expenses (supplies, etc.) according to budget, utilizing standard Company tools, communicates resource needs to Executive Director
- Maintains a working knowledge of state regulations, policies, and procedures for infection control compliance, including community's compliance with TB screening as required by State regulations and / or Life Care policy
- Determines appropriate staffing levels to meet resident needs 24 / 7 and ensures schedule is published timely
- Performs departmental QMPI audits and creates and manages Plan of Correction for deficiencies
Resident Care Focus
- Assess new move-ins and consult with Executive Director to determine if Community can meet health care needs of prospective move-in, and determine delegation and / or nursing service needs
- Participate in initial and ongoing service planning for residents
- Ensures that the medication system is safe and meets State and Company standards
- Meets with residents regularly and participates in family conferences
- Makes daily rounds to review performance of resident care staff
- Monitors service records for all residents
- Ensures compliance with medical and contact information for all new residents
- Ensures timely communication with physicians and other healthcare professionals
- Ensures investigation and resolution of resident / family concerns and complaints / grievances
- Provides hands-on care as staffing needs require (and licensure allows)

- Implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the resident care department
- Perform proficiently in all applicable competency areas
- Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
- Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and / or confidential information
- Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
- Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care's Code of Ethics and completes all required compliance training
