Hamilton Software Developer - Consultant

Encodia is developing a new generation of protein analysis tools based on single-molecule protein sequencing. Our goal is to make protein analysis easy and ubiquitous by using a novel technology that encodes peptide sequence information in DNA.

The DNA can be read by a DNA sequencer, providing a path to breakthrough proteomics research at a scale that is not practical or cost-effective using current technologies.

Encodia is seeking an expert-level software developer with extensive experience in designing and testing complex molecular biology assays on Hamilton liquid handling platforms.

Responsibilities :

Set up, operation, QC, and maintenance of instruments and high-throughput systems, including :

• Development, implementation, execution and validation of automated high-throughput (HT) assay workflows in collaboration with biology and chemistry teams
• Continuous improvement of HT-based processes and SOPs across established and novel technologies and instrumentation
• Effective communication and collaboration with engineering and assay teams
• Providing technical support and training to colleagues
• Programming Venus software for assay development

What you bring to this role :

• Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering BS, MS or PhD with 12+ years of industry experience
• 10+ years of relevant Hamilton Star+ programming and Venus software experience
• Hands-on experience in assay development, process development, and validation in automated high-throughput screening
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, Java, or C# for scripting and integration with laboratory systems
• Strong process documentation and maintenance
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail
• Proven experience in working in collaborative cross-functional teams
• Ability to utilize change management practices to drive safety, quality, efficiency, and cost improvements
• Available to consult on-site at our San Diego office at least 1 to 2 days per week

Compensation : $70 - $150 per hour
