Description :
Under the direct supervision of the Foster Care Program Director, the Foster Care Consultant performs case management services to foster parents and children in foster care.
Consultants work with parents of children in foster care in partnership with child and family teams.
Major Responsibilities :
1.Provide training, supervision, and coordination of appropriate services to foster parents and children through monitoring of foster homes to ensure safety and appropriate provision of children's needs.
2.Provide crisis intervention and case management through 24 hours a day on-call availability on rotation and scheduled supervision to foster parents.
3.Execute admission and discharge processes of children in care. Assure that services are implemented. Attend permanency planning meetings for DSS, relevant meetings for placement, child and family team meetings, and provide clinical supervision to foster parents.
4.Ensure that state and agency standards are met regarding case records of foster parents and children in care. Responsible for service planning, documentation, and review.
Maintain supervision notes.
5.Serve as liaison between foster parents and members of the child and family team. Ensure appropriate communication and sharing of information.
6.Assess safety, family strength, and needs, as well as access necessary community resources.
7.Assist foster family in providing a safe and nurturing environment and be knowledgeable of mental health issues and behavioral management supports.
8.Represent agency in variety of various settings; including attendance at relevant community forums, public presentations, etc.
9.Assist in the training and licensure process for new foster homes. Ensure all licensing standards for foster homes are implemented.
Complete and submit foster home applications for licensure / re licensure. Be familiar and assist in the process of termination, and revocation.
10.Conduct quarterly reviews and yearly summaries with foster parents.
11.Assist with foster parent trainings, in-service and pre-service.
Other Responsibilities :
1.Maintain current knowledge of foster care issues through staff meetings, supervision with Program Director, training, literature and participation in foster parent in-service trainings.
2.Ensure the provision of quality services to clients through participation in the agency's Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process.
3.Display competence and responsiveness to cultural differences present in both customer and employee population.
4.Other duties as assigned / requested by the Program Director.
Requirements : Qualifications :
Qualifications :
Knowledge : Minimum Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field from an accredited college or university. Prefer MAPP certification.
Qualified Mental Health Professional (QP) status with children is required.
Experience : Minimum 2 years’ experience working with children in a case management capacity preferred.
Skills / physical / working conditions : Must possess North Carolina driver's license and be insurable by Eliada's insurance carriers.
Position requires on-call responsibilities and transportation of foster care clients.
