About the Department :
The Pappas Program offers an interdisciplinary, community-oriented, and practicum-based approach to real estate development education.
Through our academic programs, students and industry professionals enroll in classes that emphasize building resilient and sustainable communities, with a focus on architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, financing, and environmental sciences.
Essential Job Duties :
The successful candidate(s) will teach graduate-level courses in Real Estate Development, related fields and cross-disciplinary themes according to the Program’s need and the applicant’s knowledge, skills, and ability.
Opportunities are expected to be available to teach professional and continuing education courses.
The Pappas Program offer’s graduate level courses as we build toward a series of stackable certificates leading to a Master’s in Real Estate Development.
Our courses attract advanced undergraduates, graduate students, as well as learners outside of the University.
Our curriculum consists of a series of 3-credit seminars that generally meet on weekday evenings. Classes are semester-long and meet either once a week or twice a week depending on the course.
Classes are all in-person only and do not require regular or substantial travel.

Appointments will last one or two semesters, with the possibility of renewal as a lecturer, depending on teaching effectiveness evaluations and curriculum needs.
Note : this position is for teaching 1-2 courses per year and is not full-time.
Minimum Education and Experience :
Qualification requirements include a doctorate or terminal degree in the discipline or a closely related field to the course taught.
Alternative credentials will be considered. Instructors without a relevant degree may qualify through professional experience.
The university evaluates competence, effectiveness, and capacity, which may include relevant undergraduate or graduate degrees, professional experiences, licensure and certifications, honors, and awards.
Continuous excellence in teaching or other demonstrated competencies that contribute to effective teaching and student learning outcomes are also considered.
Other Required Qualifications :
- Demonstrated professional experience in real estate development, architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning and design and academic instruction
- Excellent strong communication and interpersonal skills and sense of collaboration.
- Experience teaching or substantial related experience like public speaking or presenting complex ideas.
