Critical Care RN Contract - San Marcos, TX

As a competent Nurse, you'll practice independently in a critical care setting, providing both routine and complex care.

You'll have the opportunity to develop long-range goals and manage clinical contingencies, making appropriate assignments and delegating tasks to other care providers.

Responsibilities

• Meet expectations of applicable competencies : Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administer medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitor for side-effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and / or caregivers.

• Communicate findings to appropriate healthcare team members.

Standard II : Patient Throughput & Patient Flow Process

• Anticipate and plan for admission / discharge / transfer needs.
• Utilize communication systems and tools for the discharge process.

• Plan, direct, and evaluate nursing care and functions during assigned shifts.
• Demonstrate good stewardship in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
• Assess departmental staffing needs and participate in resourcing efforts.

• Incorporate patient safety practices to promote positive outcomes.
• Demonstrate accountability for nursing research and quality improvement activities.
• Provide evidence-based nursing care.

Technical Competencies

Clinical Policies and Standards

• Follow specific standards and clinical procedures.
• Analyze policy and standards documentation for compliance.

Health Information Documentation

• Maintain both paper and electronic patient documentation.
• Describe the flow of information between various units.

Medical Equipment

• Describe experience with basic medical equipment.
• Ensure all equipment and supplies are in proper working order.

Job Requirements

Education / Skills

Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred.

Experience

1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

• BLS required.
• RN License in state of employment or compact.
