CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Creates and assesses the daily schedule to plan optimal staff utilization and functioning of the operative schedule. Maintains effective lines of communication with all necessary personnel and surgical services departments.
Notifies surgeons, anesthesiologists, SPU and PACU personnel of time changes and added operative cases. Communicates all staffing needs and scheduling changes to appropriate supervisory personnel.
Anticipates potential scheduling problems and exhibits proactive management. Estimates room and time availability for schedule changes and / or added cases.
Documents data regarding problematic areas on master schedule. Coordinates delivery of appropriate specimens to the Pathology Department.
Resolves daily narcotic discrepancies and prepares a weekly discrepancy report. Maintains accurate documentation of required quality control and department logs.
Attends departmental and unit based meetings or acknowledges review of notes and minutes. Participates in hospital risk management program by reporting all unusual occurrences.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education :
Bachelor of Science in nursing
Certification and Licensing :
Registered nurse license
Experience :
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes :
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
