SUMMARY

We are looking for a motivated Electrical Engineer intern to assist with a special project involving the programming of Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) for controlling our hydroelectric generators.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in control systems engineering and learn about renewable energy technologies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • HMI Programming : Assist in the design and development of HMI applications to monitor and control hydroelectric generator.
  • System Integration : Collaborate with engineers to integrate HMI system with existing control frameworks and ensure seamless communication with generators.
  • Testing and Validation : Participate in testing and validation of the HMI, ensuring functionality and reliability in a real-time environment.
  • Documentation : Help create and maintain documentation related to HMI programming, including user manuals and system specifications.
  • Data Analysis : Analyze data from hydroelectric systems to assist in performance monitoring and optimization efforts.
  • Support : Provide support during the implementation phase, troubleshooting any issues that arise with HMI systems.
  • Training : Upon project completion, provide training to the field operators to ensure they can navigate through the new HMI.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering with a Power or Controls emphasis, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications :

Experience with HMI or PLC programming or control system design.

Interest in renewable energy and hydroelectric power systems.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities :

  • Demonstrated ability to exemplify our organizational values of safety, customer service, leadership, engaged, trusted and continuous improvement
  • Basic knowledge or ability to learn HMI software and programming languages
  • Familiarity with control systems and automation principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows desktops and server operating systems. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Office 365 web apps, and Microsoft Outlook for email / calendaring.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
