Come join a successful and progressive national firm! This national law firm is expanding its Charleston, SC office with an experienced business litigation attorney to lead the local litigation practice.
Their team is skilled and at the forefront of business litigation and transactional law as a full-service law firm. The areas of practice include all areas of business and commercial litigation, general corporate law including advising start-ups, mergers and acquisitions, corporate formation and structuring, commercial transactions, serving as outside general counsel, and more.
Sample Job Responsibilities :
- Handling litigation from intake through trial with minimal supervision
- Formulate and develop case strategy, advise clients on risk mitigation and pre-suit resolution options
- Drafting and filing of litigation documents to include pleadings, discovery requests, discovery responses, motions, and memorandum
- Guide clients through the case process
- Interaction with expert witnesses to include conferences, drafting of expert reports, and affidavits
- Attendance and preparation for depositions, mediations, hearings, and court appearances
- Consistent communication with their team and clients
- Other tasks as necessary
Minimum and Additional Qualifications :
- A JD from an accredited law school and a member of the SC Bar in good standing
- 5-10 years’ experience practicing as an attorney with knowledge of and experience in corporate litigation, business transactions, and civil procedure
- Detail-oriented, hardworking, and results-driven team player
- Must be a motivated self-starter
- Ability to express arguments and conclusions clearly and logically
- Strong research, organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to analyze and synthesize facts, evidence, and legal theory and to understand and craft legal pleadings, discovery, and proposed orders
- Knowledge of the laws and rules, as well as state and federal court procedures
- Ability to generate own client base and experience in marketing legal services
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience trying cases, preferred but not required
- Experience with arbitration and mediation, preferred but not required
- May require travel, working more than 40 hours per week when needed and lifting boxes of documents
- Ability to maintain a client base, some book of business is preferred
