Pay : $68,000

Benefits - Approximate full-time benefits package value $24,000 :

Position Summary

Administrative responsibilities for the operational success of the Youth Resource Center (YRC), including oversight of 24 / 7 programming, drop-in day center services, and overnight emergency shelter for youth ages 15-22.

Taking a housing first approach to ending youth homelessness in our community, the Director ensures that the YRC runs in compliance with contract commitments and in line with VOA mission and policy.

With the oversight of the Division Director, oversees all program operations including staffing, budget management, community relations with funders, compliance with state, federal, and county requirements.

Works with the Division Director to facilitate all program development and human resources decisions. Support in grant process as a subject matter expert.

Essential Duties

  • Provide quality provision of all direct services that focus on ending youth homelessness and work with the Division Director and YRC staff to create pathways and partnerships to needed services to support youth.
  • Ensure all services that are provided are tied to evidence-based principles or best practices for helping youth overcome homelessness including housing first for youth, trauma-informed care, positive youth development, harm reduction, motivational interviewing, and culturally responsive programming.
  • Hire, train, orient, and hold weekly supervision with direct reports as well as provide oversight of initial and ongoing training for all staff.
  • Assist in budget development and monitor the appropriate utilization of grants to meet program outcomes and maintain programs within licensing standards.

Supervise staff in utilizing budgets to manage purchasing and accurate financial coding of purchases.

  • Create and maintain a strong collaborative culture within staff, teams, and divisions. Model behavior that is consistent with, and supportive of the mission and values of the organization.
  • Participate as a trainer and oversee in-service trainings for homeless services staff.
  • Attend meetings with providers, community organizations, groups with lived expertise, and any other organizations whose services impact YRC clients.
  • Facilitate the supervision of staff interactions with clients through the management of the Program manager and assist in hiring as necessary.
  • Resolve disputes, complaints, and grievances between staff and / or clients in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the development of policies and procedures around the provision of overnight emergency shelter and drop-in day center services.
  • Attend work as scheduled and arrive at the designated time.

Secondary Duties

  • Support the fundraising efforts of the agency by attending and / or contributing to the success of special events and community tours.
  • Provide back-up on call support to programs as needed.
  • Perform other functions as necessary or assigned.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in a social services field or equivalent and 2 years of social services or homelessness-related experience or any combination of education, experience, lived expertise, and training that provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities :

  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness; preferably youth who are at risk or currently experiencing homelessness.
  • Supervisory and administrative experience in a social service setting.
  • Budget management and development experience.
  • Program development in a community setting.
  • Knowledge of mental health practices is preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Trauma Informed Care, Housing First for Youth, Positive Youth Development, Harm Reduction, and Motivational Interviewing.
  • Ability to interact with clients by demonstrating genuine empathy, concern and understanding while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Ability to uphold professional boundaries, confidentiality regulations, agency policies and procedures, and interact in a professional manner with a diverse workforce, clients, and the public.
  • Willingness to accept supervision and direction.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age, possess a current driver’s license, have a good driving record, and be insurable on the agency liability policy.
  • Must be able to pass Utah-DHS Office of Licensing background screening and pre-employment drug screen.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs.
  • Ability to move around the facility, interacting with clients for extended periods.
  • Work is generally performed in an office environment. May entail using a computer for extended periods of time.
