The primary functions of the Material Manager are to track material status, facilitate material expediting, reassign material, cancellation of material orders, and working with leadership and other resources to develop and improve processes and tools to optimize material management.
The position requires an understanding of material and supply chain practices as well as the use of independent judgment, enhanced verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work with minimal supervision with the support of a remote team.
The ideal candidate would have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or related field from an accredited curriculum, and a minimum of four years of relevant material experience.
Desired Manager Functions :
- An individual capable of working with project teams, supply chain / procurement teams, suppliers, and logistics personnel.
- Identification of improvement opportunities : Evaluate existing practices, processes, and tools, and develop and present improvement plans with multiple options for approval by management.
Development of these plans will, at times, require working with specialized technical resources to estimate labor hours, schedule, etc.

Implementation of improvement plans : Work with specialized technical resources and management to implement improvement plans by creating, developing, and / or revising processes, guides, and tools.
Examples include; Incorporating automated workflows for material approval, cancellation, reassignment, etc.
Communicate effectively with project teams, contractors, and vendors as required to optimize material logistics and availability, thus facilitating seamless performance of construction activities and flow of information.
This includes tracking / resolving action items.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- Possess solid verbal and written communications skills. Ability to coordinate with and interface with contractors, vendors, engineers, colleagues, and other electric utilities personnel at a high professional level
- Display strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and work effectively with clients, peers, and affiliates
- Strong capability in Microsoft Word, Excel, and possess basic knowledge of corporate accounting practices and business operations
- Willingness to develop, promote and comply with Mesa and client safety requirements
- Ability to travel regionally for project requirements
