Description

As a Senior EHS & Sustainability Coordinator, you will be a key player in our client’s commitment to creating a safe, healthy, and sustainable work environment.

Your role, based in the New York area, involves overseeing and coordinating Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs while driving sustainability initiatives.

By implementing best practices, you will contribute to our clients organizational goal of achieving excellence in safety, environmental stewardship, and corporate responsibility.

Role responsibilities

EHS Program Management

Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive EHS programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards in the workplace.

Collaborate with departments to establish and enforce safety protocols and procedures.

Incident Investigation and Reporting

Lead investigations into incidents, accidents, and near misses. Analyse root causes and recommend corrective and preventive actions.

Maintain accurate records of incidents and produce timely reports for management and regulatory agencies as required.

Employee Training and Education

Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees at all levels.

Foster a culture of safety awareness by promoting best practices and providing resources to support ongoing education.

Sustainability Initiatives

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement sustainability strategies and initiatives.

Monitor and report on key sustainability performance indicators, identifying areas for improvement and innovation.

Waste Management and Environmental Compliance

Oversee waste management programs, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.

Implement strategies to minimize waste generation, promote recycling, and explore sustainable disposal options.

Energy Efficiency and Conservation

Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency and reduce the organization's carbon footprint.

Implement initiatives to conserve resources and promote sustainable practices.

Stakeholder Engagement

Engage with internal and external stakeholders to communicate EHS and sustainability goals and achievements.

Foster relationships with regulatory agencies, industry groups, and community organizations.

Continuous Improvement

Stay informed about changes in EHS regulations and sustainability trends.

Propose and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance EHS and sustainability performance.

Role Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Sustainability, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in EHS management and sustainability coordination, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of EHS regulations and sustainability best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Certification in EHS (, CSP, CIH) and / or Sustainability (, GSCP, ISSP) is desirable.
  • Experience with EHS management systems (ISO 14001, ISO 45001) is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive change.
