Position Summary
The HIM Manager is responsible for maintaining the security, confidentiality, completeness, and accuracy of medical records in accordance with policies and procedures and within the guidelines of regulatory agencies.
In addition, the HIM Manager will oversee the timely fulfillment of releases of information, in accordance with federal and state laws.
This position must integrate company values into daily practice.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain process and systems to ensure accuracy and complete medical records documentation.
- Maintain department productivity, quality, and efficiency for all processes within the department.
- Oversee and assist with data collection, storage, retrieval, assembly, filing, and retention of medical records / data.
- Direct record assembly and review medical records for data elements required for records completion. Monitor and evaluate clinical staff to ensure compliance with records keeping requirements.
- Oversee all ongoing department activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance of, and adherence to the company’s policies and procedures covering the privacy of, and access to, client health information in compliance with federal and state laws and the company’s information privacy practices.
- Provide development guidance and assist in the identification, implementation, and maintenance of company information privacy policies and procedures in coordination with Operations, Clinical, Compliance, and Legal.
- Oversee and assist with discharge records analysis for clinical deficiencies and data for accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
- Safeguard the confidentiality of all medical records by ensuring the Release of Information policies are followed in accordance with HIPAA and other requirements;
secure legal / risk management records; respond timely to subpoenas and / or court orders; and testify on behalf of the company in court hearings and / or depositions as required.
- May act as liaison with Legal and Compliance on audits and legal proceedings related to HIM.
- Complete HIM department audits.
- Work with clinical teams to improve the quality of documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the organization.
- Compliance with Centria’s Code of Conduct, policies and procedures, and Federal and State laws.
- Responsibility to report violations of Company policies or the Code of Conduct.
Rate
$52,000 - $74,000 plus bonus
Qualifications
Education / Certification
- HIM certified, RHIA preferred
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience
Work Experience
- 2 years’ experience managing within a high-volume records management environment, healthcare industry preferred
- Minimum 5 years of HIM experience
- Knowledge and understanding of CMS and The Joint Commissions standards related to medical records
Equipment and Technology Requirements
- Working knowledge of laptop / desktop PC
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel)
- Proficiency in G Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Google Meet)

- Proficiency in PC software, especially work processing and spreadsheet programs;

Working Conditions
- Centria's office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 : 30 AM 6 : 00 PM.
- Additional time or occasional shift in schedule may be required to complete the above work or meet company objectives.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, physical requirements such as bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 30 pounds may be required.
This role will require sitting most of the day as well as walking and standing periodically. This role may require close visual acuity on computer screens or monitors and the ability to analyze data and figures on a screen.
