Title : Systems Administrator

Location : UT Federal Credit Union Corporate Headquarters

SUMMARY :

The Systems Administrator role emphasizes the installation, configuration, maintenance, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers, with a focus on automation, continuous integration, and delivery.

This position supports the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of IT systems critical to organizational functions, including managing Microsoft 365 (M365) services.

A robust background in system administration practices complemented by proficiency in enhancing operational efficiency through automation and modern deployment practices is essential, alongside demonstrated experience with M365.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software, and hardware.
  • Manage network servers, technology tools, and M365 services.
  • Monitor system performance and ensure systems meet requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues and outages efficiently.
  • Implement and manage security measures, including access controls, backups, and firewalls.
  • Conduct regular security audits and assessments.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including standard operating procedures and IT policies.
  • Upgrade systems with new releases and models.
  • Train staff on new technologies and M365 tools.
  • Collaborate with IT staff and teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Stay current with industry knowledge through regular training.
  • Automate repetitive tasks to improve efficiency using scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Plan and execute server and application deployments, configurations, and updates.
  • Prepare and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity procedures.
  • Act as a tier II escalation point for issues related to servers, applications, and M365.
  • Secure server, storage, and virtual environments in line with organizational policies and best practices.
  • Address vulnerabilities identified in audit and penetration test results.
  • Review and update server-related infrastructure to ensure security and efficiency.
  • Manage and optimize M365 services, including Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, and other related applications.
  • Provide M365 support and training to end-users.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :

  • BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline preferred with two to four years of experience
  • Professional certification (e.g., Certified Systems Administrator, Certified DevOps Engineer) is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator, DevOps Engineer, or similar role.
  • Strong background in system administration and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN), and patch management.
  • Knowledge of system security (e.g., intrusion detection systems) and data backup / recovery.
  • Experience with automation and orchestration tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).
  • Ability to create scripts in Python, PowerShell, Bash, or other languages.
  • Familiarity with CI / CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
  • Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms.
  • Experience managing and optimizing M365 services and applications.

LANGUAGE SKILLS :

Ability to read, analyse, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and co-workers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS :

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages as well understand and apply computer application protocols and configurations.

REASONING ABILITY :

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS :

Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Microsoft Certified : Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, or other relevant certifications preferred.
